This beauty is chrysocolla, a lesser known, but not lesser blue green gemstone. Like its cousin, turquoise, it is a fairly soft stone and easily scratched or damaged. Not a stone to wear to the gym! If treated with some respect it will last quite well.
This large stone is set off with a simple bezel adorned with a shape like a vine, which has been incorporated into the bale. It is done completely in sterling silver and hangs from a sturdy sterling silver rolo chain.
Chrysocolla belongs to a very small group of copper bearing minerals, including larimar, turquoise and azurite. The latter two plus chrysocolla are sometimes confused due to their visual similarities, but chrysocolla is a bit softer than turquoise
